Two miles outside Oldcastle are the Loughcrew Hills, also known as Sliabh na Callaighe, notable for their extensive passage graves - Megalithic Tombs - built before 3,000 B.C. Experience the panoramic views and relatively unspoilt serene surroundings.
Loughcrew Historic Gardens, the birthplace of Saint Oliver Plunkett can also be found nearby.

Information about the locality and many other interesting places to visit while in the area can be found in the Tourist Office which is situated in the former Gilson School Building on Church Street.
